There are so many ways to make money from your farm - THIS IS A DEMSONSTRATION IDEA

If you have go wild olives on your farm then perhaps you can turn a problem into money. You could provide classes on how to make olive oil and the students get to take home a litre!

Making your own olive oil using a process known as cold pressing, which extracts oil from olives without the use of heat. Here's a brief overview of how to do it:

  1. Harvesting Olives: Begin by harvesting ripe olives from your olive trees. Choose high-quality olives for the best oil.
  2. Cleaning and Sorting: Wash the olives thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris. Sort them to remove any damaged or unripe olives.
  3. Crushing: Place the cleaned olives in a sturdy container and crush them using a car jack. This can be done by placing the olives in a fabric bag or pressing them directly with the jack.
  4. Pressing: Once crushed, wrap the olive paste in cheesecloth or a similar material and place it between two sturdy surfaces. Use a new car jack covered with food grade plastic to apply pressure evenly, squeezing out the oil.
  5. Collecting the Oil: As pressure is applied, the oil will begin to flow out of the olive paste. Collect the oil in a clean container.
  6. Filtering: After pressing, the oil may contain small particles of olive paste. Filter the oil through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove any impurities.
  7. Storing: Store the freshly pressed olive oil in a clean, airtight container away from light and heat. It's best to use the oil within a few months to enjoy its freshness and flavor.
