Google Location Guard CS-Cart Add-on
City: AU, Yattalunga
This is a add-on for CS-Cart. I developed this addon after my Google API costs went through the roof, I found I was providing services to customers from countries I didn't service and bots and bad-actors were hitting my pages driving up the costs. I built this addon and my costs reduced to next to nothing! I am not a developer and this addon is sold as is. Note that you can list countries you want to provide location services to (use the standard 2 letter county designator in the add on settings, see image below).
Google Location Guard Function Summary
In simple terms: the add-on is designed to reduce Google API costs caused by bots and unwanted automatic location checks, without blocking the storefront or stopping real customers from choosing their location manually.
This image shows how I was able to drive down costs.
Google Location Guard reduces unnecessary Google location API usage in CS-Cart/Multi-Vendor while keeping normal customer location features available.
It helps by:
- Blocking automatic browser geolocation for risky traffic, such as bots, crawlers, empty user agents, or optionally visitors outside selected countries.
- Preventing unnecessary calls to Google Geolocation and Google Geocoding APIs when automatic detection is blocked.
- Allowing genuine customers to manually use “use my location” when enabled, so the customer experience is preserved.
- Integrating with AB Antibot when available, using its bot/whitelist decisions.
- Falling back to built-in crawler detection if Antibot is not available.
- Supporting optional country-based geolocation restrictions using Cloudflare/GeoIP-style country headers.
- Logging blocked geolocation attempts for admin visibility.
This is a lifelong single version licence, it allows use in one instalation and can not be resold. No support is provided, you are paying for addon which can use if it works for you (it should), you can modify the code as you wish, but must not resell any derivities from my code. Future versions will provide support. It should work with a standard multivendor licence. If it doesn't work turn off other addons to identify any conflicts (none-known). The addon is operating on this site.
