Hatching eggs using a incubator is an exciting experience that can also be used as a learning experience. We offer incubator hire, provision of eggs and optional set-up. This process results in cute living chicks, it is important that it be overseen by a competent adult.

Please consider if this activity is right for you.

  • Whilst alergies are rare it does happen, typically an allegy only presents itself after the chicks have hatched. Will everyone be able to enjoy the experience?
  • Incubation requires the bringing together of electricity, water and heat.
  • You need somewhere safe to place the incubator, it should not be accessible unsupervised by young children.

Whats included?

Hire of 12 egg incubator with transparent cover, optimised for a successful hatching experience

Provision of support materials including detailed instructions, a draft letter to parents, cheat sheet and more.

Options

Eggs: You need fertilised eggs for a hatching experience. We can supply them or you can supply your own. Please ensure either way that you allow 24 hours for the eggs to rest prior to placing them in the incubator.

Setup: We can post the equipment to you or come around and set it up. It is pretty easy to set-up and comes with instructions, we like to think that we are pretty friendly and can talk you through some of the more interesting aspects.

Chicks: We can collect the chicks or you can keep them/sell them. If you return them to us there is a quarantine fee as we will need to keep the chicks isolated for two weeks. Please note chicks can not be returned if using a postage service option i.e. chicks can only be collected if choosing pick-up or we come to you.

Brooding: Once the chicks are hatched they need a controlled environment, called a brood box. During the first six weeks of life they are provided with heat and specialised food. It is important that the chicks are checked at least daily.

Travel: If we are providing set-up or collecting the chicks please select your distance from Gawler South Australia, this allows for our travel costs.

Why get a hatching package from us?

The benefits of hiring a incubator from us as opposed to purchasing your own:

  • We support you along the process with full instructions and reminders
  • You are not paying the full cost of the incubator
  • We have tried a number of models of incubators and found that many do not provide a optimal hatching environment. Even the model we have settled on has been modified to increase the prospect of hatching success.
  • The incubator is not used once and disgarded, it is used again and again.
